An RMT appointment is not automatically a full-body massage. Treatment can focus on one area or include related regions. Scope depends on your concern, assessment, consent and available time.
An RMT can focus on one area such as the neck, shoulder, back, jaw or calf. Treatment is not automatically full body. The therapist may assess nearby areas, explain their relevance and ask for consent. State your main and secondary concerns when booking.

No. Registered massage therapy is assessment-based, not a fixed head-to-toe routine. A visit may begin with health-history questions, movement checks and goal discussion. The plan can remain focused or include related areas. Review the registered massage therapy service before booking.
Yes. You can request neck and shoulder treatment only. Time is still needed for assessment, consent and positioning. For a focused concern, the focused neck massage guide explains how a limited treatment area may be approached.
Appointment length is separate. Use the RMT session-length guide rather than combining scope and duration into one decision.
Neck discomfort may be assessed with the shoulders. Jaw tension may be considered with the neck. Low-back symptoms may lead to hip assessment, while calf symptoms may prompt ankle or foot questions. Review the TMJ RMT page for jaw-specific care.
Yes. You can decline assessment or treatment of any area, technique or position. The RMT may explain how that affects the plan, but treatment should not continue without consent. Request adjusted draping, positioning, pressure or scope when needed.
Several areas may be addressed, but each additional concern reduces time for the main problem. Choose one primary concern and one or two secondary areas rather than listing every region equally. The RMT can decide what fits.

Regular massage may be more practical for full-body relaxation, fatigue or everyday tension when you do not need assessment, treatment notes or an RMT receipt. Choose RMT when pain, restricted movement, injury recovery or insurance requirements make assessment important. Compare regular massage in Vancouver before choosing.
Say: “My main concern is my right shoulder. My neck is also tight, but the shoulder is the priority.” Add whether this is your first visit, whether an injury caused the symptoms and any areas you do not want treated. Contact Loong Wellness if the correct scope is unclear.

Tell the clinic if symptoms followed a recent accident or involve swelling, fever, new numbness, weakness, severe pain or rapid worsening. Massage therapy does not replace medical diagnosis. Emergency symptoms require medical care.
This article provides general information and does not replace medical assessment, diagnosis or individualized advice. Scope depends on your history, consent, practitioner judgment and availability.
An RMT can focus on the neck, shoulder, back, jaw or another priority without providing a full-body massage. Assessment may include nearby areas, but the therapist should explain the reason and obtain consent. Rank one main concern, mention secondary areas and state your boundaries before treatment. This helps prevent lower-priority concerns from consuming treatment time.
Not sure whether to request one treatment area or a broader appointment? Call Loong Wellness and tell us your main problem, secondary areas and whether this is your first RMT visit.
Yes. Tell the RMT that your neck and shoulders are the priority. The appointment may still include health-history questions, movement assessment and discussion of related areas. You can decline treatment elsewhere, and the therapist can explain what is realistic.
No. The RMT may suggest hip assessment because it could be relevant to movement and planning, but hip treatment is not mandatory. The proposal should be explained, and you can decline any area you do not want addressed.
An RMT may assess jaw concerns within their competence and treatment plan. Jaw care can require specific discussion and consent, especially if intraoral techniques are considered. Mention jaw symptoms when booking.
A focused visit can still be an RMT appointment when provided and receipted by a registered massage therapist. Reimbursement depends on your policy and remaining benefits. Treating one area does not determine insurer approval.
RMT fees are usually based on appointment type and duration, not the number of areas treated. A one-area visit is not automatically cheaper. Check current clinic rates and decide appointment length separately from treatment scope.
Loong Wellness serves Mount Pleasant and surrounding East Vancouver communities. Before booking, state your main concern, secondary areas and treatment boundaries. The clinic can help you choose RMT or regular massage.
