</div>Eugene doesn't work from a fixed routine. She assesses first, then blends deep tissue, Swedish and myofascial release around what your body actually shows her — with passive stretching and joint mobilisation where they help. Sessions in English or Korean.

Eugene is a Registered Massage Therapist with a focus on active rehabilitation and manual therapy. Rather than applying the same sequence to everyone, she assesses each patient's condition first, then mixes deep tissue, Swedish and myofascial release to match what the assessment shows — adding passive stretching and joint mobilisation when it's a joint, not just a muscle, that's limiting you.
Her path to the treatment room is an unusual one: a degree in Physical Education, a sports rehabilitation internship at the National Fitness Center in Seoul's Olympic Park, and seven years as a commissioned army officer — retiring at the rank of captain before moving to Canada for the second chapter of her life. Patients tend to notice what that background left behind: she is structured, attentive, and genuinely thorough.
Outside the clinic she hikes, skis and plays badminton. Treatments are available in English or Korean (한국어 상담 가능).
Most clinics ask you to pick a technique when you book. Eugene's sessions work the other way around: you describe the problem, she assesses, and the blend follows.
Not sure any of this applies to you? It doesn't need to. Describe where it hurts and what you can't do — choosing the tools is her job, not yours.
Every treatment happens in a fully enclosed private room — not a curtained bay.
Health history, what's bothering you, and how it behaves through your day. Then a short movement assessment so the session targets the restriction, not just the loudest symptom. This is also where you choose English or Korean — whichever is easier for describing what you feel.
Deep tissue, Swedish and myofascial release in whatever mix the assessment calls for, with stretching and joint mobilisation woven in where they help. Pressure is checked with you throughout — firm work should never be something you brace against. You stay draped and you control what is uncovered.
She re-tests what was limited so you can feel the difference, then gives you a small number of specific things to do between sessions — the active-rehab part of her approach. If a different service or another practitioner would serve you better, she'll say so.
Three chapters that shaped how she treats.
A Physical Education degree, then a sports rehabilitation internship at the National Fitness Center in Seoul's Olympic Park — working with training loads, movement and recovery before ever touching a massage table.
A commissioned army officer for seven years, retiring at the rank of captain. Leadership, teamwork and looking after the people in your charge — habits that transfer directly into patient care.
After her discharge, Eugene moved to Canada and retrained as a Registered Massage Therapist, bringing the rehab background and the discipline with her to our RMT team on Kingsway.
First time seeing her? Book an initial visit — it includes the assessment. Coming back? Book a returning visit at the same price.
All sessions are registered massage therapy, so every one produces an insurance-eligible receipt. Clinic-wide rates for every therapist are on the rates page.
Most BC plans cover registered massage therapy. If your provider is supported, we bill them directly and you pay only the portion your plan doesn't cover — see how direct billing works.
We direct bill:
IASTM — instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation — uses smooth or textured instruments to work restrictions that are broad, superficial, or slow to respond to hands alone. The instrument gives a more controlled, more even input across the tissue than fingers can sustain.
Prefer sustained manual pressure instead? Compare with deep tissue massage — Eugene delivers both, and will tell you which fits your case.

Tell us how far along you are when you book, so the room and positioning are set up before you arrive. And if your pregnancy has complications or your physician or midwife is monitoring anything, check with them first and let Eugene know at intake — sessions are adapted around that information, not despite it.
Massage therapy supports comfort and mobility. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or prenatal care.
The initial 60-minute RMT visit ($140 + GST) suits most people — it includes the intake and movement assessment that her whole approach is built on. If your issue is contained to one area and your time is short, the 45-minute initial visit works too.
Yes. Eugene treats in English or Korean — intake, the treatment itself, and your homecare instructions. 한국어로 상담과 치료를 받으실 수 있습니다. Just mention your preference when you book, or simply speak whichever language is comfortable when you arrive.
Eugene is a Registered Massage Therapist, so her sessions fall under massage therapy on most BC extended health plans, and every visit produces an insurance-eligible receipt. If your provider supports direct billing, we bill them for you — see how direct billing works.
The price is the same. An initial visit sets aside time for your health history and movement assessment; a returning visit builds on the record from your previous sessions, so more of the hour goes to treatment. If it has been a long time or something new has happened — a new injury, surgery, pregnancy — say so when you book.
As firm as your case needs and your comfort allows — that's the point of assessing first. Deep tissue work is available where it's warranted, but firm-everywhere-by-default is not how she works, and pressure is checked with you throughout. Discomfort you have to brace against is feedback she wants to hear, not something to endure.
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation — smooth or textured tools used to work broad or stubborn restrictions with more control than fingers allow. Most people don't need it; Eugene will suggest it only if your assessment points that way. It's bookable as its own 60-minute session or woven into a regular visit.
Yes — the 60-minute prenatal massage ($145 + GST) uses gentle, comfort-focused work with positioning adapted for pregnancy. Tell us how far along you are when you book, and check with your physician or midwife first if your pregnancy has complications.
Often, yes. Several registered therapists work at 560 Kingsway, and Eugene's live availability is on JaneApp — including evenings and weekend openings when she has them. For anything urgent, call (604) 620-6560.
