</div>We submit the claim to your provider after the appointment, so in most cases you pay only the portion your plan does not cover. Find your insurer below and see exactly what to bring before you book.
Tap your provider. You will see whether we can submit directly, what to bring, and what happens if your plan does not go through.
Direct billing availability depends on your specific plan, not just the insurer.
Most extended health plans in BC include registered massage therapy. Whether we can bill it directly depends on your specific plan, not just the insurer's name.
This tool tells you whether we can attempt direct billing. It cannot tell you your remaining benefit, your per-visit limit, or whether your plan requires a doctor's referral — only your insurer can. If you would rather not guess, call us before booking and we will check what we can.
Direct billing changes how you pay. It does not change the treatment — every RMT session still includes health history, consent, assessment, treatment and aftercare.
Name your insurer when you book, online or by phone. It lets us set up the billing path before you arrive instead of at the desk.
Insurance card or benefits app, member ID, policy and certificate number, photo ID, and a referral if your plan requires one. Arrive five minutes early on the first visit.
Nothing about the session changes. Billing is handled afterwards, not during.
We submit the claim electronically. If it is approved, you pay only what your plan does not cover. Often that is a small amount — sometimes nothing.
This is the most expensive mistake people make here: booking the cheaper appointment and finding out afterwards that no plan will accept it.
If your benefits are used up for the year, Chinese massage is what most clients switch to — $70 for 60 minutes instead of $140. See current rates.
Call before you book. We will tell you what we can check in advance and what only your insurer can confirm — it takes two minutes.
It happens, and it usually does not mean you have no coverage. Here is what it actually means and what you do next.
Plans reset yearly and most people do not track the balance. The claim is refused because there is nothing left to claim, not because the service is ineligible.
Some plans need a doctor's note before they reimburse RMT. The treatment is still covered — the paperwork just has to come first.
Some plans are not set up for electronic claims at all. You pay in full, we give you a receipt with everything your insurer needs, and you submit it yourself.
A wrong certificate number or an outdated card is enough to stop a claim. Bring the current card or open the benefits app at the desk.
Many plans cover a percentage or a fixed amount per visit. Direct billing still works — you simply pay the remainder.
If the claim does not go through on the day, you always leave with a receipt your insurer can accept. Nothing is lost, it just takes one extra step.
An ICBC claim is not extended health billing. If your symptoms follow a motor vehicle collision, bring your ICBC claim number — the claim covers a set number of treatments and we bill ICBC directly, so you pay only the user fee.
Call before booking if you are not sure whether to start with RMT, acupuncture or both. Read the ICBC RMT guide.
If your back, shoulder, forearm, wrist or grip symptoms come from lifting, overhead work, tools, deliveries or material handling at your job, a WorkSafeBC claim follows a different process from extended health billing.
Tell us at booking so the right billing path is set up. Mixing the two up is the most common reason a trades worker's claim gets refused.
We support direct billing for most major providers, including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, Green Shield, Desjardins, ICBC and WorkSafeBC, plus most providers on the TELUS eClaims network. Being on the list does not guarantee your specific plan is set up for electronic claims — that depends on your employer's plan design.
No. Direct billing changes who submits the claim, not how much your plan pays. If your plan covers a percentage or has a per-visit cap, you pay the remainder at the desk. If your annual maximum is used up, you pay in full.
Your insurance card or benefits app, member or certificate number, policy number, photo ID, and a doctor's referral if your plan requires one. If you have an ICBC claim, bring the claim number. Arrive about five minutes early on the first visit so there is time to set it up.
No. Extended health plans are built around registered massage therapy. Non-registered Chinese massage does not produce an RMT receipt and no plan will accept it. If you intend to claim, book RMT.
Many BC plans include acupuncture, but it is often a separate benefit from massage therapy with its own annual limit. Check both before booking, especially if you plan to use RMT and acupuncture in the same year.
No — we can see whether a claim submits successfully, but not your remaining balance. Only your insurer or your benefits app can tell you that. It is worth checking before booking, because a used-up annual maximum is the most common reason direct billing does not go through.
Usually yes, if you are a dependent on their plan. Bring their member and policy details along with your own information, and tell us at booking so the claim is submitted under the right member.
Get the referral before your appointment. Without it, the claim may be refused even though the treatment itself is covered. Plans differ, so check yours rather than assuming — this catches a lot of people out.
Usually, yes. Several registered therapists work at 560 Kingsway, including evenings Monday to Thursday and both weekend days. Call (604) 620-6560 for anything urgent — online booking shows live availability.
